What role does SAL play in the humane animal welfare of Marshall, MO?

Saline Animal League has recently set up a new, independent location in Marshall, we call our Red House Rescue, after severing ties with the city of Marshall in management of what is now back to the city pound. Our mission looks to a bright, new future with the help of supporters like you. Rest assured, while our physical footprint has temporarily changed, we will continue our loving care of all animals entrusted to us, work to provide loving homes for them, and look forward to bigger goals ahead to expand our empowered care to our surrounding areas. Stay tuned, and thank you for your support!

What is a Spay / Neuter Voucher?

Anyone can pick up a Spay/Neuter Voucher at the Red House Rescue to be used at any local veterinary clinic. When presenting this voucher it will save you $50 per spay or $30 per neuter. This is offered to encourage everyone to spay or neuter their pets to prevent unplanned litters.

Why should I microchip my pet?

Microchipping your pet is a direct link to be reunited with your pet in the heartbreaking event that you are separated. When your pet is picked up, a collar isn’t the only way they can identify to whom the animal belongs (although it is a city regulation to keep a collar and ID on your pet). If a pet is scanned for a microchip, it quickly leads to identify who needs to be contacted to reunite the pet with its owner. PLEASE remember to keep your pet’s microchip info updated, especially phone number and address, and provide it to your veterinarian.

How do I register my dog with the City?

Take your proof of a rabies vaccine from your vet to the Marshall Police Department.

How do I volunteer?

We hekkin’ need you! We are always looking for Volunteers! There are many ways you can volunteer: walking dogs, laundry, cleaning cages, socializing with the animals, fostering, chaperoning the adoptable animals to PetSmart adoption events on weekends, and more. Please see our Donate/Volunteer page for more information.

What is Puppies for Parole?

What a beautiful partnering for SAL with this great organization! Puppies for Parole, commonly referred to as P4P, is a program through the Missouri Department of Corrections. The Saline Animal League partners exclusively with the Boonville Correctional Center. We send select dogs to be partnered with select offenders 24/7 at that specific institution for eight weeks. During this time, dogs will be taught basic obedience skills such as “sit”, “stay”, “heel”, “come”, while also learning to be crate- and house-trained. The trainer and trainee both receive such love in return. Should a dog be adopted while in training, s(he) will not be released to their new adopting family until after training is complete. We are grateful to have this amazing partnership for many years.
